Just The Tonic (Best Club in the UK) Nottingham Listings

Call 0115 941 3111 or click HERE

18/1/04 Daniel Kitson - solo show. One of the country’s leading Stand ups is going on tour. With a sell out Edinburgh Show and Perrier Award under his belt, Daniel takes his inimitable stand up around the country. With an ever-growing band of loyal followers, this show is bound to sell out, so book early. £10 / £8 concs.

25/1/04 Jason Byrne – Perrier Nominee 2001 Jason’s inspired, original brand of high-energy lunacy, ensures that there is no other comedian presently like him. His fast, freewheeling style, fused with an array of offbeat props, make his act a helter-skelter of a show – where the audience are promised the ride of their lives. A very silly Irishman indeed. Support acts Seymour Mace and Rhod Gilbert. £8 / £6

1/2/04 Jimmy Carr - Perrier Award Nominee 2002… Time Out Award Winner
2003: Best Stand up…. Royal Television Society 2003 Award Winner: Onscreen Newcomer… Silver Rose of Montreux Award 2003: Best game Show
(‘Your Face Or Mine’). You might recognize him as the dry posh bloke on
‘Distraction’. He’s a brilliant stand up. Come see him… he’s getting very busy and it was hard getting him back again. Solo show £10 / £8 conc.

8/2/04 Murray – ‘Giving it Both Barrels’ tour. After selling out around the country last year, his tour has been extended. And we’ve bagged a date. A very rare chance to see The Pub Landlord where he belongs… in a pub venue. Not a poncy theatre. £16.50

15/2/04 Phil Kay is the original master of madness. Improvisational whirlwinds, leaps of fancy and spontaneous silliness. You never know what
you will get with man, but you know it will be an unrepeated and crazy one off performance. Danny Buckler is a rising star on the circuit. A popular mix of tricks. Duncan Oakley is one of Nottingham’s boys that is doing increasingly well on the circuit. Compere Al Pitcher brings some Kiwi humour to the pot £9 / £7

22/2/04 Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue are undoubtedly the daftest duo
out there. Last time they were on I had more requests for a repeat performance than for anyone. Absolutely engaging total nonsense fun. Tony
Law is Canadian, a bit confused. Comedy Store headline stuff from this man. Another act TBC. Compere Andy Robinson brings his popular brummie fun out to play £8 / £6 concs.

29/2/04 Tim Vine – star of The Sketch Show and holder of the record for the fastest gagster in the UK. Tim’s approach to comedy is too blast you with as many jokes as possible. People have been known to cry laughing. Come see him. Laugh a lot. Support from John Archer and Steve Harris £8 / £6

7/3/04 ‘Best of the Big Value 2003’ Each year we take 8 acts to Edinburgh for the prestigious ‘Big Value Comedy Shows’ Come see 4 of the ones we took last year – ‘Nige’ scouse character comedy at it’s best. This performer is going to be a household name in a few years. Silky – an oddball character, he has a mixture of charm and songs, little tales and audience banter. Booked at nearly every club in the country. Come see him now. Dougie Dunlop is a great stand up. A Scottish lad with spot on timing, great delivery and brilliant routines. Come see why he stormed as a headliner every night in Edinburgh. Compere Jarred Christmas is Kiwi goofy bloke. A fine line I shirts and tall stories £8 / £6

14/3/04 Milton Jones – has his own Radio 4 show, headlines at every club in the country, has had TV shows and done sell out shows in Edinburgh. You should come along and see why. Some of the best jokes in the industry come out of the mouth of this man. Ray Peacock is a northern, no nonsense man. But he is quite mistaken. Another Act tbc. Compere Darrell Martin £8 / £6

21/3/04 Johnny Vegas – we all know this lad. A popular face on TV at the moment, he returns to his favourite to get back to stand up. A rare chance to see him again. Tony Burgess – Manchester lad and great comic. If you saw Vegas’ DVD you will recognize him as playing lad he shared his flat with. Compere Andy Robinson. An absolutely cracking night. £18

28/3/04 Big Act TBC. We have a 90% chance of booking a pretty well
established Irish comedian and TV star that hasn’t been here for years. At
time of going to print we cannot confirm it. He is going to be doing a national tour and might use us for a warm up gig. It’ll be a real treat. Confirmation will go out to our email list, if you want to join log on to www.justthetonic.com and follow the membership links

Future shows already booked at time of going to print

2/5/04 Flight of the Conchords – Perrier Nominees 2003

From Alfie Joey...

Am doing my 'Unbroadcastable Radio Show' at the
Comedy Store this Sunday. Topical impressions, songs, sketches.
Only a fiver, 8pm ish start.

From the WINETASTERS

THE WINE TASTERS
Spend some time with Geoff and Nigel from the Chelsea wine boutique 'World of Wine'. They're here to blow away the stuffy image of wine tasting and let you in on a few tricks of the trade. By the end Of the evening you'll have learnt whether you should spit or swallow, travelled around the world
in 80 bottles, and watched in slack-jawed disbelief as two grown men attempt to destroy each other.

From its original one-off appearance at UberNacht, this is the routine that we've received most requests to reprise, with appearances at The
Establishment, Sketch Club, Amused Moose and Comedy-A-Jo-Jo's along the way. Come along and find out why. Building on the old favourites, the show features lots of new mirth, music and mayhem.

We've got six shows in January on successive Friday and Saturday nights. They are:

January 16-17 at 7.30pm at the LATCHMERE THEATRE on Latchmere Road (round the corner from the BAC). Clapham Junction or Battersea Park stations.
These dates kick off the ROAR.06 season.

January 23-24 and 30-31 at 7.45pm at the PLEASANCE STAGESPACE, Carpenter's Mews off North Road. Leave Caledonian Road tube, turn left and it's the first road on the left.

Note the different start times at the different venues. All tickets are £5, which includes complimentary samples of what I promise you is perfectly good wine. Ciaran and Andy have been on a 10-week wine tasting course (seriously), so for once we actually know what we're talking about.

We'd love to see you there. If you're organised enough to book, the numbers are:
Latchmere: 020 7978 7040
Pleasance: 020 7609 1800
Please book if you can, it keeps the venues happy!
